‘Maidaan’ is a biopic sports film that narrates the tale of Indian football in the golden period between 1952 and 1962. It is inspired by the Indian football coach, somewhat a legend of his times, Syed Abdul Rahim, who was the powerhouse in charge of the Indian football team for 13 years, and whose proven idea nurtured the roots of modern Indian football. He is essayed by Ajay Devgn in the film, supported by Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, Rudranil Ghosh, and others.
