Weather Update: IMD Forecast Rain and Hailstorm Across India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast indicating significant weather patterns across various regions of the country.

Rainfall Predictions:

  • Northeastern States: Widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning, is anticipated in states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from 26th to 30th March.
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim: Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected until 30th March.
  • Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha: Light to moderate rainfall is forecasted on 27th and 30th March in Bihar and on 30th March in Jharkhand and Odisha.
  • Northern Region: Rainfall and snowfall are predicted across many parts of the Northern region until 30th March.
  • Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh: These areas are likely to experience light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from 28th to 30th March.
  • Rajasthan: Light rainfall is expected on 29th and 30th March.

Snowfall Predictions:

  • Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh: Light rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning are forecasted until 30th March. Uttarakhand may experience similar weather conditions from 28th to 30th March.
  • Hailstorm: Isolated hailstorms are predicted over Jammu-Kashmir today, and over Himachal Pradesh on the 28th and 29th March, as well as Uttarakhand on the 29th and 30th March.

Delhi Weather Update:

  • The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) for Delhi has forecasted a partly cloudy sky in the national capital.
  • The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may settle around 18 degrees Celsius.
  • The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 159 at 8 am, categorized as moderate by the Central Pollution Control Board.
